Action plan of the Moroccans Council in Finland for
the year 2024/2025. October 2024: Orientation Workshop for New Students: Provide advice to Moroccan students arriving in Finland on how to adapt to the educational system and Finnish society. November 2024: “Independence of a Nation and the March of King and People”: Celebrate Morocco’s Independence Day and the Green March, highlighting Moroccan culture and the Saharan region. o Strengthen the connection between the Moroccan community in Finland and the homeland. o Present the projects and reforms achieved since independence under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. o Advocate for Morocco’s Sahara. o Enable the Moroccan and Arab communities to learn about Morocco’s rich cultural heritage. o Inform Finnish citizens about the unique and diverse history and culture of Morocco. December 2024: Integration Week: Organize workshops on Finnish culture and ways to adapt and integrate into Finnish society. General Assembly: Annual meeting to review the activities and projects of the previous year and set plans for the upcoming year. January 2025: Moroccan Culinary Workshop: Learn how to prepare traditional Moroccan dishes such as tagine and couscous. February 2025: Start of Ramadan: On Friday, February 28, we wish peace, blessings, and joy for you and your loved ones during the coming Ramadan. o Significance of Ramadan: Ramadan is a time dedicated to spiritual growth, increased devotion, and worship. We fast from dawn to sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and smoking during the day. This fasting, known as “sawm,” is one of the five pillars of Islam and is intended to bring us closer to God and remind us of the suffering of the less fortunate. o Organize weekly communal iftars. o Religious lessons and Quran recitation. o Fundraising campaign to support the poor and needy in Morocco. March 2025: International Women’s Day (March 8): A tribute to Moroccan women in Finland, with discussions on challenges and achievements. Laylat al-Qadr (expected on March 26): A special night during Ramadan (27th night of Ramadan). End of Ramadan (March 30): Eid prayer and community celebration with activities for children. o Eid al-Fitr Celebration: The conclusion of Ramadan is marked by the joyous Eid al-Fitr celebration, which starts with a special prayer known as “Salat al-Eid.” The day features festive meals, wearing new clothes, giftgiving, and spending time with family and friends. It is also a time to continue charitable practices through “zakat al-Fitr,” ensuring that even the less fortunate can share in the festivities. April 2025: Finnish- Moroccan Business Forum: A meeting for entrepreneurs to discuss business cooperation opportunities between Morocco and Finland. May 2025: Moroccan Cultural Festival: A cultural open day showcasing Moroccan music, traditional dances, and crafts. Moroccan Handicraft Exhibition: Displaying Moroccan handmade products and supporting traditional industries. June 2025: Eid al-Adha (June 7, 2025): Celebrate the holiday and organize a charitable event to distribute food to the needy. Community Summer Trip: A group trip to a natural destination to enjoy Finland’s scenery and learn about local culture. July 2025: Summer Vacation: A holiday break for the community. August 2025: Moroccan National Day Celebration (August 20): A celebratory event featuring a historical presentation on Morocco’s achievements and showcasing Moroccan folklore. September 2025: Back-to-School Forum: Orientation workshop for Moroccan students to help them start the new school year successfully. Commemoration of the Hijra (Islamic New Year): Religious lessons and events to remember the Prophet Muhammad’s migration. October 2025: Community Sports Day: Organize football, basketball, and other sports competitions to promote physical health and community bonding. Seminar on Social and Legal Rights: A seminar in collaboration with legal experts on the rights of Moroccans in Finland regarding residence and work. November 2025: Entrepreneurship Workshop: Provide tips and support for Moroccans who aspire to start their own businesses in Finland. Celebration of Independence and the Green March: Continue the celebration of Moroccan Independence Day and the Green March and raise awareness about Moroccan culture and the Sahara. Poetry and Literary Evening: Present readings from Moroccan poets and writers to enhance cultural exchange. December 2025: Moroccan Handicraft Exhibition: Showcase Moroccan handmade products and support traditional industries.
